So... it's been weeks since -
- I received a gold drop. In the meantime my guildies count is into double figures. I don't farm, tried taking a 2 week break but still nothing worthwile drops.
Any ideas and/or tips to improve things? Twas really the only reason I still play (discovering new shiny weapons) and now that's gone.. |

Play in hard mode. Playing solo (farming) in hard mode yields quite a few gold weapons in very little time. It's not hard to get one in less than 5 minutes. Guild Wars is not the best choice if you only play for loot; it's designed to minimize the effect of gear.

Normal mode won't grant you many gold drops that's for sure. Play in hard mode, open locked chests, etc. Outside the usual chest rewards where you always get a guaranteed gold, the drop rate for gold itens in NM is too low.

I always play hard mode. I used to be pretty much guarenteed at least one and up to three gold per area vanquished, which was my main activity on GW. Always move around all campaigns (for fear of boredom more than anything else). I'm convinced there's some kind of algorithm attached to my character, similar to the anti farm which supposedly exists. Only, I have never been a farmer in any shape or form.
ah well. |

its just bad luck, since you said you were vanquishing im asuming your using heroe and henchmen which basicly lowers your droprate of ANY item to about 1/8th so getting a gold would be even rarer. try the above methods or party with more players.

Vanquished 6 areas the other day, 4 in Tyria & 2 in Elona = 0 gold. Then a little later on a run Nicholas I had 4 gold armor drops along the way.
Basically it's all luck, H/H makes you luck worse. |

Normal does receive less gold drops, but if you go solo, and play in say Jaya bluffs you can get quite a bit of golds.

Taking 2 week breaks wont affect your droprate, dont try anything like that. Its all random. Sometimes you get no golds, sometimes you get bad golds, sometimes you get good golds, sometimes you get lots of golds, its all luck.
For instance in raptor farming, im lucky to get one gold every 10 runs. Earlier today, I did a run and picked up 2 golds, Claws Of The Broodmother, and a white dye. |

Still nothing...
Just a thought: would the amount of gold in my account have an effect? The drop rate stone walled around 750k come to think of it. Maybe Anet thinks I have enough.. |
